CHILDREN & YOUNG PEOPLE
Our activities for under 18s are supported and overseen by the Up and Coming Team, working alongside the leaders of our Sunday groups and the Boys' and Girls' Brigades Companies.
BIBLE FUN CLUB
This club, for Primary School aged children, takes place in Slamannan during term-time on Wednesdays from 5.30pm.
Braes High Chaplaincy
Alongside other churches in the area, we partner to see the best for our young people through chaplaincy work in Braes High School, including assemblies, class visits and groups.
Primary School Chaplaincy
At both Slamannan and Wallacestone Primary Schools we are involved with chaplaincy work, by giving RME input to classes and assemblies, and with Scripture Union at WPS.
CHURCH LIFE
ART GROUP
Join us on a Monday afternoon to paint, draw and create! You don't have to be an accomplished artist to take part; aspiring artists at any level are most welcome to this friendly and supportive group.
BOOK CLUBS
If you enjoy reading, good company and the opportunity to share thoughts and experiences with like-minded people, (not to mention a cuppa and a biscuit!), then the Book Clubs are for you.
BELONG
Held five times over the year, these inter-generational events help all ages explore themes of the Christian faith alongside fun, food, friendship and worship.
CHOIR & PRAISE BAND
Contributing to Sunday worship in Brightons and other events are our active Choir and (separate) Praise Band. The Choir has rehearsals on Thursday evenings and before the Sunday service. New members welcome to both.
COFFEE MORNING
Have your fill of home baking and a warming cup of tea or coffee, alongside friendly conversation, every Thursday morning during school term-time in the Brightons halls, 10.00-11.30 a.m. All are welcome!
FELLOWSHIP GROUPS
Small groups of adults meet online or in local homes or the Brightons Ministry Centre to study the Bible, share stories and pray together. They are a great way to make friends, be inspired and learn more about God in an relaxed environment!
FRIENDS OF JESUS GROUP
This group for adults with learning disabilities meets fortnightly on a Thursday evening 6:45 – 8.00pm. It is a time of praise, prayer, sharing, Bible study and getting to know more of Jesus as our special friend, in a language that is relevant and understandable. Each person, regardless of disability, has skills and gifts to share. Jesus sees us and loves us all equally.
FRIENDSHIP PLUS
Meeting in Brightons on the third Wednesday of each month (September - May) from 2.00-4.00 p.m. this group is for both men and women of senior years from the surrounding area. Tea, coffee and cake will be available as well as a speaker or entertainer. In December we go out for Christmas lunch and we celebrate St Andrew’s Day and Burns Day with an in-house meal.
GUILD
As part of the wider movement of the Church of Scotland Guild, our groups in Brightons and Shieldhill invite and encourage both women and men to follow Jesus Christ and express their faith in worship, prayer and action. Meetings are fortnightly in the afternoon (separate days for each venue) and include time for fellowship and friendship, with a cuppa, speaker and worship.
Prayer Times
On Thursday evenings at 8.15pm we have an online prayer time via Zoom, YouTube and Facebook. Then on Sunday mornings, we have a short time of prayer at both ministry centres ahead of our services.
Rendezvous
Meeting once a month on a Wednesday afternoon in our Shiledhill building, this group provides a time for local folks in Shieldhill to gather, chat, hear a talk and be community together.
SENIOR CITIZENS LUNCH CLUB
This club is held every month, except December, January and February, held in Slamannan Ministry Centre. Dates can vary.
St Margaret's Care Home Service
Once every 5 weeks, members of our congregation lead a short service on a Sunday afternoon to bring joy and hope the residents with familiar old songs and Bible stories.
Thursday Short Service
On the last Thursday of the month at the Brightons Ministry Centre, we have a short half-hour service, with Communion celebrated four times per year. These services can be beneficial for those who find the morning service too long.
YOUNG ADULTS GROUP
For young adults in our church family (S3 to end of uni/college) we run a fortnightly Sunday evening group to build a confident faith during these transition years.
